Kab Lae Kim Joins VerifyVASP as Head of Capital Markets
We are delighted to announce that Kab Lae Kim has joined VerifyVASP as Head of Capital Markets, further strengthening our position as a global leader in Travel Rule solutions while deepening our engagement with regulated capital markets and digital asset infrastructure.
Kab Lae brings exceptional expertise at the intersection of capital market regulation, digital asset policy, and financial law. He joins VerifyVASP from the Korea Capital Market Institute (KCMI), where he served as Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Financial Law Research Center. In that capacity, he led influential research on tokenized securities, stablecoin regulatory frameworks, and digital asset market infrastructure, while providing expert policy advisory services to key Korean public institutions including the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the National Assembly.
Throughout his career, Kab Lae has played a central role in shaping Korea’s digital asset regulatory landscape. He served as a member of the Virtual Asset Advisory Committee and the Virtual Asset Service Provider Registration Review Committee at the FSC, as well as the FSC’s Legal Interpretation Deliberation Committee. He also serves as a non-standing director of the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation. These roles placed him at the forefront of developing and reviewing the rules governing digital asset service providers, investor protection measures, and market integrity standards in Korea. He was recognized with the Presidential Commendation on Finance Day (2022) and the Chairman's Award for Merit from the Korea Financial Investment Association (2023).
Kab Lae holds a Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) from the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University and is admitted to practice law in New York. He is also a U.S. IRS Enrolled Agent. His academic and policy publications span U.S. and Korean securities law, private funds regulation, stablecoin frameworks (including comparative analyses of the GENIUS Act and MiCA), spot Bitcoin ETF market structure, and tokenized real-world asset (RWA) frameworks. He has also authored policy studies commissioned by the FSC, the Korea Exchange, and the Korea Securities Depository.
